the French and their Bitch

There is a common misunderstanding of the word bitch here in France. Instead of whining about how annoying it is, I thought I would do the french people who read my blog a favor so that they can stop humiliating themselves when using this word.

       sluts

The misunderstanding: Bitch is not synonymous with slut (exactly what slut means can also be discussed, normally people think its a girl who sleeps around..note that this is not necessarily my personal view of this word)

The word actually has several meanings, the most commonly used one being that the girl is mean/cruel...
Bitches

It is also commonly used instead of the word girl/woman by gross people :)

It can also mean being someones bitch as in doing everything someone tells them to do etc...bitch also is the term for the female dog, but I don't think people really use that anymore..

last but not least it can also be a verb, to bitch which means to whine and complain about things...which of course can lead to the word bitch referring to someone who complains a lot.

I really hope this has been educative for some people, it was a pleasure for me anyway...

Madame Grès exhib

As I am free this week I thought I would have a museum week and go see all the exhibitions I've thought of seeing so I've been to the Rembrandt one which was great but no cameras allowed...and yesterday I went to see Madame Grès a great couturière that started out in the 40's in Paris...

There was alot of pleating and jersey going on in this exhibition. The deep and flat pleating was her recognition sign and hence a part of her brand, they even named the technique "pli grès"

The pleating might have been her thing, but this dress was by far my favourite

the exhib. is shown at Musée Bourdelle, which is very beautiful itself and is also showing the sculptures of Antoine Bourdelle

Cute little jacket....yes please :)

Lovely courtyard of the museum, overall quite great I highly recommend it!! :)

Good Friday

Saga and I and our mummies went for a lovely walk on djurgarden before going to Engelbrektskyrkan to listen to Matthaus-Passion which was lovely but quite long...

Perfect activities for this particular day...unfortunately there was not enough time for studying...so now I have 30 pages in 4 days ahead of me...wish me luck :)

this confit de canard is poetic

In Sweden we say that the one who waits for something good never waits too long. However I do not agree...not in Paris anyway

Ok everyone, smile now and look happy with your food...
but it really is the best confit de canard I've had so far...you can find it at a charming little restaurant called le Pavé between Pompidou and Rivoli...I highly recommend it - especially for brunch mm

 In our courtyard..

Agreed!

« You can tell how Alber Elbaz likes his women from the lanvin show, she starts out proper as a preacher and she ends up full on party girl mode » Tim Blanks
« We are doing all the clothes based on roots and tradition and what we try to do here is to take tradition and to update it and to make it relevant. » Alber Elbaz

Mystery solved

As I passed by the bridge between ile Saint Louis and ile de la cité this friday I noticed the man with the huge vehicle-installation was there again.  I just could not walk by without putting an end to my curiosity and asking him everything I was wondering about...

The first thing I asked was why he had created all of it (he had made 4 new additional fountains one in the picture above) he answered simply for beauty.

His name is Michel Godin des Mers and as the sign suggests he is an actor/innovator/artisan/poet. He gave me two papers one with a text on politics and one with poetry.
Even though I might not share his political values I still have to say I appreciate his choice in way of expressing himself

So if you want to catch a glimpse of Mr des Mers you should be on the bridge between the islands on Friday evenings between 20-00
